Virtual Patient Group / PPG

The Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a collection of patients at a surgery who have an interest in the services provided. Patient Participation Groups cross barriers, embrace diversity and work in partnership with the surgery to improve common understanding and help identify new services to meet patients’ needs.

  • Do you have something to say but don’t have the time to attend meetings?
  • Do you have ideas on how to improve your local practice?

If so, join our PPG or our PPG Forum today!

In order to get the most out of our Practice we want to create a safe, friendly outlet for helpful, constructive ideas and comments. The PPG online forum has been developed as part of our virtual patient group to help Patients work together and to share ideas before presenting them to the practice. We have developed some terms of reference to help us achieve this goal.

Please remember, if you wish to be a part of our PPG you must adhere to these terms at all times.  Please ensure you read them thoroughly. Copies are available upon request at reception for you to sign and also on our website to download. The PPG is self-organising and patient led.

Common Questions and Answers

Q: What is a patient participation group?
A: This is a group of volunteer patients who are involved in making sure the surgery meets patients’ needs.

Q: Why are you asking people for their contact details?
A: The practice would like to be able to contact people occasionally to ask questions about the surgery to see how well we are doing and to identify areas for improvement. we would also like your opinion on new services we may be offering.

Q: Will any of the questions you ask me be medical or personal?
A: No, only general questions about the practice.

Q: Will anyone else will be able to access my contact details?
A: The contact details will be kept safely and securely. Your details will only be used for this purpose and will not be shared with anyone else.

Q: How often will you contact me?
A: Maybe once every three to four months.

Q: What if I no longer wish to be on the contact list or leave the surgery?
A: You can leave the group at any time. Just let us know by e-mail or phone if you do not wish to receive further messages.
